The State Office for Metrology of the Republic of Croatia was established pursuant to the amended Law on the State Management System and the Scope of Ministries and Governmental Bodies (Official Gazette no. 22/05).

The State Office for Metrology as a governmental body performs administrative and other tasks referring to metrology, the testing and supervision over precious metal articles, the establishment of a uniform system of measurement, the realisation and maintenance of national measurement standards in the field of physical quantities ensuring their traceability as well as the management and funding of metrological research activities.
